Chapter 1 by StarbearerTM
Gently Goku carried the Prince in his arms, delighting in the way that Vegeta threaded his own hands around his neck. Not even tripping Goku trudged up the dirt path curling to his grandpa Gohan’s cottage, which had been their abode for a good while. He loved the feel of Vegeta’s hand gliding along his neck, but he couldn’t help but wonder why he was also not quite feeling himself.

“I wonder too,” Goku muttered. Vegeta tensed in his arms, sure that they weren’t alone. His eyes widened and he gripped Goku’s neck more tightly.

“Kakkarot, we aren’t alone,” Vegeta whispered hoarsely into Goku’s ear. It was as he hoped all along, which was finally coming to pass. Yet now with what Goku presented...

“Now that you mention it,” Goku responded, still tightly squeezing Vegeta’s knee. He too felt a strange third sense of ki tingling almost on top of Vegeta. His eyes widened as he reached the front double doors.

Not since years ago did he feel that sense of familiarity. Vegeta too seemed tense for Goku could feel the movement of his muscles tensing and uncontracting. Both of them exchanged puzzled glances. Goku felt a wave of something pass over him and he stumbled as he grabbed Vegeta more tightly. Holding tightly to Kakkarot’s neck, Vegeta cursed, “Kakkarot, don’t drop me you fool!”

“I’m sorry Vegeta… I don’t feel so good myself,” Goku confessed.

“Put me down idiot,” Vegeta mumbled. Goku gently set him on his feet and then slammed the flat of his hand against the wooden door so it creaked. Vegeta caught him against him as he leaned hard, his arm slid around the waist of his lover.

“Kakkarot, if you’re going to puke, don’t do it in the house! You know it’s a bitch to clean those damn sheets,” Vegeta answered. Tugging on his sleeve, he walked Goku over to sit down on one of the two vases set before the fire pit. Vegeta felt something squirming in his own stomach, and clapped a hand to his mouth.

Goku could swear he felt seasick. Was it something in the food they had both eaten, he wondered. A fluxuation in his own ki made him panic shortly, as if something were slowly surging inside of him. Again, the sharp gleam of a miniscule ki sparked, and he whirled his head to see Vegeta. “Did you sense that, Vegeta?”

“Yes Kakkarot. We’re not alone,” Vegeta whispered, staring at Goku oddly.

“Why are you looking at me like that? I said I believed you!” Goku protested, glaring at him.

“You look green, Kakkarot. If you’re going to puke you should have done it by the river as I did!” Vegeta mumbled.

Goku held his stomach tightly heaving in and out, as he dropped to his knees. For the first time fear surged him, and a wave of horror crossed his mind.
“Vegeta… what… what’s going on? I sense another Ki inside of you… it can’t be Baby…”

“Another ki? Kakkarot, you’re delusional! You’re the one possessed if I…” Vegeta trailed off. Narrow eyes widened and he drew in his breath sharply. There was no way they could both be, could they? Granted the Royals had the ability, but not third class. Not unless there was a desperate shortage. Even in the cases where it did happen as Vegeta wished, he couldn’t have predicted such an outcome.

“Vegeta… please, if you know something you’re not telling me, now’s the time!” Goku urged, stumbling over to where Vegeta clung to the edge of the Chinese urn. Another surge of strange emotions clouded Goku and he felt like he wanted to cry. Wiping away the surprising tears, Goku wondered why they glistened on his fingers.

“The answer is simple, Kakkarot,” Vegeta whispered, dropping to his own knees. Grasping Goku’s hand, he placed it on his midriff.

“Vegeta, why?” Goku asked.

“It’s partly your fault I feel so lousy, but not because of food,” Vegeta answered him. Goku’s own eyes rounded to an appreciable size. Familiarity bubbled up out of the morass of confusion. Only a few times before did he sense kis intertwined, and this one felt almost like a combination of his and Vegeta’s. It couldn’t be Baby. Not a parasite.

“Not Baby, but a baby,” he answered in shock. His limbs felt heavy all at once.

“Yes Kakkarot. Something that I had thought would possibly happen, but not so soon. It takes much longer for males to conceive then females. But Saiyans are capable of…”

“Wait a minute,” Goku blinked at him, lifting his hand in shock. “You mean to say that you and I… that it’s… mine?”

“What other Saiyans have I been sleeping with idiot?” Vegeta snapped. “And what’s more to the point, something ELSE has happened I had no idea of!”

“Vegeta… slow down! You mean to say that you can… like Bulma or Chichi… there’s a baby growing inside you?” Goku gasped his heart pounding. The mere thought of it was slowly sinking in, and he couldn’t understand. “But you were the one that… well… you know… me…”

“I had expected that you would be the carrier, not me,” said Vegeta slowly.

“You mean you expected ME to… to…” whispered Goku.

“Yes.”

“Why didn’t you tell me Vegeta? Why keep this from me!” Goku stammered, his voice trailing off.

“I rarely apologize Kakkarot. However, I had thought that you could sense life within you as well. Nevertheless, I cannot be certain. Even now, don’t you feel strange emotions inside of you? Don’t you feel a change in your own ki?”

“You… you’re the one… and you’re trying to say that I…” Goku whispered.

Vegeta grasped Goku’s hand and rested it on his belly. Simultaneously he rested his hand on Goku’s abdomen. The Prince’s gloved hand gently caressed, as if probing for something that made Goku’s heart pound.

“But at the same time Vegeta… how…”

“The same way. It took longer for you. Nevertheless, I hadn’t anticipated that I would… but both of us at the same time. It’s a problem considering that in this case we should have had one of us initiate, and the other…”

“I... I can’t be… can I?” Goku blinked. “And you are… that’s just…”

“Strange? You’re a third class and I’m a royal. All Saiyan males are capable of bearing young if there aren’t any other females. The one thing that has escaped me is that it isn’t supposed to happen simultaneously. Only one remains pregnant while the other is not. But for it to happen at the same time is a disaster,” Vegeta whispered, shaking his head.

“You’re saying that I should have been the only one pregnant because I… was the…” Goku blushed at the words.

“Yes. Then you became the dominant one, and this is the result. Not that it would have mattered so much, but now we’re both compromised,” Vegeta coughed, his face holding a slight blush.

“How long… I mean how long will it take?”

“You are farther along than I, but somehow your ki masked yours. I suppose that my body is responding differently biochemically to the surge in hormones than yours. Could be because pregnancy affects each being differently,” Vegeta murmured, trying to make sense of it all.

“So I’m going to be a father, and you’re going to be a mother, or am I going to be a mother and you a father?” Goku blinked in confusion.

“Both, Kakkarot,” whispered Vegeta. “But there is a chance one of us can stop the gestation and place it into hibernation while the other carries to full term.”

“No Vegeta,” Goku answered.

“What?” Vegeta blinked at him, seeing the strange sensation in Goku’s eyes.

“We face it together. Both of them will be together as we are together,” Goku answered. “Whatever it means. How much further along am I than you?”

“At least two months,” Vegeta answered. “And I… you said you just sensed it now?”

“Yes,” Goku answered.

“Only two weeks time,” Vegeta nodded gravely.
“I did wonder why I was getting a bit flabby,” Goku answered, feeling his belly.

“It is small at first. But part of the body grows to accommodate it. The baby is held within its own compartment, the body encapsulates it, and it attaches to the best organ. Unlike females, the embryo attaches to the underside of the other lobe of your intestines. There’s enough blood supply there for it to thrive. And your body’s growing its own womb around it instead of just a sack,” Vegeta murmured.

“I was never good at biology,” Goku answered, his head swimming.

“You don’t feel it moving do you?”

“I thought my stomach was just being unusually active. I don’t really feel it… but I felt my ki changing. I didn’t think much of it. I figured it was just something passing, but…” Goku trailed off. Vegeta leaned against his chest and Goku solidly sat on his bottom. Wrapping his arm around Vegeta, he closed his eyes.

“You aren’t angry Kakkarot?”

“No, I’m happy,” Goku answered with a smile. “Because now I know what it’s like. I want to experience the same things you do Vegeta. I have to admit having kids around again is always fun…”

“You might not agree in four month’s time when you bear our son,” muttered Vegeta. “I can only protect you for so long. You’ll be vulnerable you know.”

“So will you. However, it doesn’t matter, Vegeta. I won’t leave you,” Goku answered, leaning down to kiss the top of his head.

He felt another surge of hormones, but they filled him with a surge of happiness. Indeed the spasms of what he thought was his gut were in fact more like a butterfly fluttering softly. Hands resting across their respective bellies the two Saiyans sank into mutual contemplation. Now more than ever they would have to stand together against an uncertain future.
